Not at all! The experience is quick and painless. Nothing pierces, burns, or attaches to your skin. A small protective barrier is placed between you and the jewelry while the connecting ring is precisely welded closed.

IS PERMANENT JEWELRY WELDED TO MY SKIN?

Absolutely not. This is one of the most common misconceptions about permanent jewelry. Only the jewelry itself is welded—the small connecting ring that joins the ends of your chain is closed with a precise micro-weld. Nothing is ever welded, bonded, or attached to your skin.

CAN I GET SHOCKED DURING THE WELDING PROCESS?

No. The welding process is performed on the jewelry, not your body. You may notice a tiny flash when the weld is made, but you will not feel an electrical shock.

IS PERMANENT JEWELRY SAFE?

Permanent jewelry is designed to be a safe, comfortable experience when properly fitted and professionally welded. Your skin is protected during the welding process, and your piece is custom-fitted so it can move comfortably with you. As with any jewelry, individual circumstances such as metal sensitivities, skin irritation, certain activities, or medical considerations should be discussed before getting linked. Please wear the safety glasses provided if you would like to watch the welding process.

HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT JEWELRY LAST?

Your piece is designed for continuous wear and can remain part of your everyday life for a long time. How long it lasts will depend on the chain, material, your lifestyle, and how it is worn. Permanent jewelry is still fine jewelry, so it should be treated with care.

AM I STUCK WITH IT ONCE IT’S WELDED?

Never. Your piece is designed to stay seamlessly connected until you choose—or need—to have it removed. Permanent jewelry celebrates lasting connection without taking away your choice to remove it when life calls for it.

DO I HAVE TO GET PERMANENT JEWELRY WITH SOMEONE?

Not at all. Permanent jewelry can represent a connection with someone you love, but it can be just as meaningful when chosen for yourself. Celebrate your faith, a milestone, a new chapter, an accomplishment, a personal promise—or simply choose a piece because it feels like you.

CAN WE GET MATCHING PERMANENT JEWELRY?

Your jewelry doesn’t have to be identical to share the same meaning—each person can choose the chain and details that feel most like them.

HOW SHOULD MY PERMANENT JEWELRY FIT?

Your jewelry should feel comfortable and natural—secure without feeling restrictive. During your appointment, we’ll help you find the fit that works best for your style and comfort, whether you prefer a closer fit or a little more movement.

WHAT IF I’M NOT SURE HOW TIGHT OR LOOSE I WANT IT?

That’s completely okay! We’ll help you compare the fit and movement before anything is cut or welded. You’ll have the opportunity to approve your fit so you can feel confident in your choice before we make it permanent.

Once the chain has been cut, it can be adjusted smaller, but it cannot be made longer. Because all jewelry is custom-measured and cut specifically for you, all sales are final once the chain is cut. Please make sure you’re completely comfortable with the fit and length before giving us permission to cut.

HOW LONG DOES THE WELDING PROCESS TAKE?

The actual weld takes only seconds. Most of your experience is spent choosing your jewelry, personalizing your piece, and finding your perfect fit. Once everything is approved and payment & waivers are completed, the final connection is quick and precise.

CAN I PERSONALIZE MY PERMANENT JEWELRY?

Absolutely! Make your Covenant uniquely yours by adding meaningful details such as charms, birthstones, or connectors. Whether it represents your faith, someone you love, a special milestone, or simply your personal style, your piece can be created to tell your story. 

CAN I ADD A CHARM OR CONNECTOR LATER?

Yes! Your piece can continue to evolve with you. Additional charms or connectors may be added later when compatible with your existing chain and design.

CAN I BRING MY OWN CHAIN OR CHARM TO BE WELDED?

For quality and safety, Covenant Collective only welds chains and components purchased through us. This allows us to work with materials we know and trust and helps ensure each piece is appropriate for our welding process.

SKIN, SENSITIVITIES & SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET PERMANENT JEWELRY?

Yes. Guests must be at least 12 years old. Guests ages 12–15 must have a parent or legal guardian present to provide consent at the time of service. Guests ages 16–17 may receive permanent jewelry without a parent or guardian physically present, but parent or legal guardian consent is still required before service.

WHAT IF I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN OR A METAL ALLERGY?

Everyone’s skin and body chemistry are different. If you have sensitive skin or a known metal allergy, please let us know before choosing your piece so we can discuss the materials available. If you have a history of significant reactions to jewelry or metals, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before getting linked.

WHAT IF I HAVE A RASH, CUT, OR SKIN IRRITATION WHERE I WANT MY JEWELRY?

For your safety and comfort, we will not weld jewelry over or near an open wound, active rash, infection, or significant skin irritation. Once the area has fully healed, we’ll be happy to get you linked.

CAN I GET PERMANENT JEWELRY WHILE PREGNANT?

Pregnancy can cause changes in swelling and body size, particularly in the hands, wrists, ankles, and feet. If you choose permanent jewelry during pregnancy, we recommend allowing enough room for comfort and closely monitoring the fit as your body changes. If you have any medical concerns, please consult your healthcare provider before getting linked.

WHAT IF I HAVE A PACEMAKER OR OTHER IMPLANTED MEDICAL DEVICE?

If you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic medical device, please consult the healthcare professional who manages your device before receiving permanent jewelry. While the jewelry itself is not the concern, the welding equipment produces a small electromagnetic field that may interfere with certain implanted devices. Because devices and individual circumstances vary, we always defer to your provider's guidance. 

WHAT IF MY JEWELRY STARTS TO FEEL TOO TIGHT?

Your jewelry should always feel comfortable and should never restrict circulation or movement. If swelling or body changes cause your piece to become uncomfortably tight, it should be removed rather than waiting for the fit to improve. Carefully cut the jump ring that connects the piece, not the chain itself. Your comfort and safety come first. Once you're ready to wear your piece again, contact us and we'll be happy to help. Rewelds are complimentary within 30 days of your original appointment and $15 thereafter. If resizing or adding a chain is needed, additional charges may apply.

CAN I CHOOSE A DIFFERENT CHAIN THAN THE PERSON I’M GETTING LINKED WITH?

Of course. Sharing the experience doesn’t mean your jewelry has to be identical. Each person can choose the metal, chain, and personal details they love while still creating pieces that represent the same connection, memory, or moment.

CAN I SEE AND TRY THE CHAINS BEFORE I CHOOSE?

Of course. You can view each chain up close and try it against your skin before deciding. Take your time comparing styles, thicknesses, and metals to see what looks best with your skin tone. We want you to feel completely confident in your choice before your piece is measured, cut, and welded.

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?

Appointments are recommended to ensure dedicated time for your permanent jewelry experience. Walk-ins may also be available at select pop-ups and events based on availability. HOW LONG SHOULD I PLAN FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

We reserve approximately 20 minutes per guest to complete the full experience, including your required waiver, selecting your chain and any personal touches, finding your perfect fit and completing payment before your piece welded. And so, that keeps everything smooth and on schedule for everyone.

CAN I BOOK WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY?

Absolutely! Permanent jewelry is even more memorable when shared with others. Standard appointments are available for smaller groups from 1-3 people, while larger groups can reserve a Private Party for a dedicated experience for groups of 4 and more. WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?

Come ready to create something meaningful. Before your appointment, please make sure your required retainer is paid, and that you've received confirmation of your booking. Check the date, time, and location in your confirmation so you know exactly where to go. Please arrive on time with clean, dry skin in the area where your jewelry will be placed, and avoid applying heavy lotions or oils immediately beforehand.
